College should be a time for growth, independence, and possibility—but for many students, it’s also overwhelming, especially for those with ADHD, executive functioning challenges, dyslexia, dysgraphia, or anxiety. Even the most motivated students can struggle to keep up with reading, writing, studying, and organizing their lives.

I’ve spent years helping students overcome those very challenges—one Zoom session at a time. And I started to notice a pattern: no matter who I was helping, I often recommended the same tools and strategies. That’s when a colleague said, ā€œJoan, you need to create a course. So many people need this information!”

And so, Tech for College Success was born.

Why This Workshop Is Different

This isn’t just a lecture or a list of apps. This is a hands-on, guided experience designed to help students:

āœ… Learn and try out tech tools that actually work
āœ… Build systems for time management, note-taking, and studying
āœ… Reduce stress and overwhelm—before the semester even begins
āœ… Feel more confident and in control of their academic journey

We include something most workshops don’t: ā€œwork sprints.ā€ These are live, focused sessions where participants try the tools while I’m right there to answer questions. It’s all about doing, not just learning.

ā€œJoan, you are so knowledgeable and so organized! I especially appreciated the work sprints during the tech workshop—I was finally able to get started and explore new tools, knowing you were there to support me.ā€

What You’ll Learn (and Actually Use)

Here are just a few of the tools and strategies students love most:

  • Google Calendar + Tasks + Keep to build a system for staying on top of everything

  • Genio NotesĀ  (formerly Glean), and NotebookLM for smart, AI-powered note-taking and studying

  • Speech-to-text tools and strategies to overcome writing anxiety and get ideas flowing

  • Text-to-speech and reading support tools to make content more accessible and less exhausting

  • AI assistants like ChatGPT and Gemini to break down assignments, brainstorm ideas and generate study guides and quizzes.

ā€œThank you so much for your incredibly helpful showcase of the different programs you recommended. There’s so much out there, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you narrowing the options to a few that actually work. It’s amazing!ā€

Why Now Is the Time

Waiting until the semester begins is too late. Once the floodgates open, it’s harder to build new habits and systems. This is your moment to pause, prepare, and feel ready.
