Joan Green, the founder of Innovative Speech Therapy, is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist with many years of experience helping children and adults who have communication, cognitive, literacy and learning challenges. She has developed a unique effective approach to therapy empowering individuals, families and professionals with state-of-the-art local and long-distance therapy, coaching and training programs. She authored Technology for Communication and Cognitive Treatment: The Clinician's Guide and co-authored the video ebook Technology Supports for Writing. She has developed a series of online video training guides and offers an informative free e-newsletter to over 8,000 recipients which highlights technology goldmines and strategies for professionals and families to help maximize progress toward goals.
Joan has spoken extensively to professionals as well as clients and caregivers at the local, state and national level to promote the integration of computers and technology into treatment. She leads professional workshops and speaks at a wide variety of seminars. Joan trains professionals and graduate speech therapy students to incorporate technology into sessions. She consults with aphasia centers, regular and special education schools, assistive living facilities, hospitals, rehabilitation centers and senior centers to facilitate the coordination of computer based programs for people with communication and cognitive challenges. Joan attends many conferences and continues to very actively research potential therapy resources, products and therapy techniques.
She is always looking out for new innovative ways to help her clients. Joan offers outpatient, home-based and online therapy for children and adults as well as online training and coaching opportunities for professionals and caregivers. In 2008, she received the "Most Outstanding Contribution to the Field" award from the Maryland Speech-Language- Hearing Association.
Joan received her undergraduate and graduate level education and training at Northwestern University. She grew up in Buffalo, NY and lives in Potomac, MD with her husband Mark, their four children and Honey - their yellow lab.
